Scheduled Maintenance in Northeast Edmonton
Most expensive repairs start as small, cheap ones that nobody caught. At Just Auto on 66 Street NW, we do scheduled maintenance based on your vehicle's needs and its manufacturer's recommendations, on all makes and models. Our mechanics inspect key components, replace filters and belts when required, and help you understand what needs attention now and what can wait. Before any work, we give you an estimate, and nothing is done without your OK.
Signs you need it
- Your maintenance schedule or service sticker says a service is due by time or distance
- A maintenance or service reminder is showing on the dash
- You have bought a used vehicle and do not know its service history
- It has been a year or more since anyone looked at the vehicle beyond an oil change
- You are about to take a long trip, or winter is coming
- Something feels or sounds different, even if no warning light is on
How it works at Just Auto
- Book an inspection online or call (780) 340-0258. If you have the service book or past invoices, bring them, or tell us the year, make, model and kilometres.
- We check what your manufacturer recommends at that age and distance.
- Our mechanics inspect the key components, and look at what is wearing and what is fine.
- We tell you what needs attention now and what can wait, and give you an estimate.
- Nothing is done until you approve it. You decide what we do today.
What maintenance covers
Every manufacturer publishes a maintenance schedule, usually in the owner's manual or the service booklet. It lists what to check or replace at set intervals, by time and by distance. Typical items include:
- Oil and filter, the most frequent item. See our oil change page.
- Air filters. The engine air filter keeps dirt out of the engine, and the cabin filter cleans the air you breathe inside.
- Belts. A cracked or glazed accessory belt can fail without much warning and take the charging system or power steering with it.
- Fluids. Coolant, brake fluid and transmission fluid all have service intervals. See our fluid services.
- Brakes, tires and suspension, checked for wear so you hear about them before they become urgent.
Not every item applies to every vehicle, and not every interval comes due at once. That is why we start from your vehicle's own schedule rather than a fixed package.
Now or later
A maintenance visit should leave you with a clear picture, not a long list of everything at once. When we find something, we tell you how urgent it is. Some things affect safety and should be done now. Some will need doing soon. Some are worth watching until the next visit. You decide what fits your budget and your plans.
Used vehicles
If you have just bought a used vehicle, a maintenance inspection gives you a starting point. Service records are often incomplete, and knowing what has been done saves you paying twice. It is also the moment to find anything the previous owner put off. If you bought from us, bring the vehicle back whenever it is due.
Edmonton driving
Many owner's manuals have two schedules: normal and severe. Severe service usually includes short trips, extreme cold, dusty roads, towing and a lot of idling, which describes a lot of Edmonton driving. If that is how you drive, the severe schedule is often the right one to follow. Our first snow checklist covers what to check before winter.

Questions
Do I have to service my vehicle at the dealer to keep the warranty?
Check your warranty booklet, which sets out what is required. Most ask that the scheduled maintenance is done on time with the right parts and fluids, and that you keep the records, so hang on to every invoice.
How do I know which schedule my vehicle is on?
It is in the owner's manual or service booklet. If you do not have it, tell us the year, make, model and kilometres and we will look up what is due.
Will you tell me if something can wait?
Yes. We tell you what needs attention now and what can wait, and nothing is done without your OK.
